Who We Are

Dr. Tom Farrell devoted his life to youth. He spent over 50 years in education; first as a high school teacher and coach in Maine, and then as an administrator and Superintendent of schools in Maine, Colorado, and Taiwan. When Dr. Farrell passed away in March of 2024, the Farrell family decided to create the Future Leaders of Maine Foundation to honor his legacy of giving.

Our mission as a 501c3 is to support Maine's next young leaders through an annual student scholarship program. Our world is made better by those committed to bringing out the best in others. The Futures Leaders of Maine Foundation is committed to empowering the next generation of Mainers as they help shape the future of our state and begin their own journey toward serving your communities with integrity and compassion.

Graduating high school seniors in Maine who demonstrate positive leadership skills, a commitment to serving their communities and treating others with compassion and respect, and who excel in extra-curricular activities (regardless of academic achievements), are encouraged to apply.
